Teaching Practice currently ongoing

The department of educational communication and technology Lecturers  are currently out in the field for teaching practice. Third years and fourth year bachelor of education(Arts, Early childhood education and Agriculture) students are on teaching practice making this the biggest group of students to be out in the field at the same time. Teaching practice process has also adopted technology to ensure that minimum contact between the students and their supervisors is maintained by adopting online lesson plans and schemes of work for students and evaluation forms for lectures.

Teaching Practice commences on 10th May to 16th July 2021

Teaching practice will officially start on 10th May 2021 to July 2021 as scheduled. This comes after a one year break caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020 after schools were closed down following a Presidential directive meant to control the spread the COVID-19 virus. The student were first trained by the Teaching practice Coordinator, Dr. Japheth Origa on the various online resources that will be available for them to use.

Refresher trainining on Learning ToolKit+( LTK+) software

The department of educational communication and technology will conduct a refresher training on the learning toolkit  software before the 4th year students are released for teaching practice. The training will be conducted by Mr. Enos Kiforo assisted by Miss. Rose Iminza the LTK+ Africa coordinators on 23rd April 2021 from 2pm to 4pm.The purpose of the training is to ensure that the students are well  equipped to use the software in their respective teaching practice  schools as they go out for  teaching  practice. 

Vice Chancellor address to the university community on Covid 19 third wave containment measures

The President of the Republic of Kenya, His  Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, in his 15th address delivered on March 26, 2021 to the Nation on Corona Virus Pandemic indeed confirmed that a third Wave of COVID 19 is at hand in Kenya. In order to  avert a national health crisis and also in keeping with the recommendations of the National Emergency Response Committee on COVID-19, he issued the Public Order No. 2 of 2021 on the Corona Virus Pandemic.

Webinar: Improving Literacy and Numeracy in kenya, using the learning toolkit software

The Department of Educational Communication and Technology will host an online webinar on Thursday, 4th March 2021, 2-3pm.Guest presenters are Enos Kiforo, Hub Reasearch coordinator and Rose Iminza, PD Coordinator at LTK+ African. The topic will be 'Improving Literacy and Numeracy in kenya, using the Learning Toolkit software'

First year students report to Campus for Blended Learning

The first year students Resumed for blended (online and Face to face) Learning for 2020/2021 Academic Year second semester in the College of Education and External Studies.This included the department of educational communication and technology Bed ECD( Early Childhood Education) first year students.The activities that were undertaken included:

  • Biometric registration
  • Physical verification and submission of registration documents and
  • Physical orientation of University facilities and amenities

3RD ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RESEARCH AND INNOVATION IN EDUCATION (AICRIE)

The third annual conference on research and innovation in education was held virtually on the 14th and 15th October 2020. The conference  was attended by stake holders and experts in the education sector from all over the world where members presented research papers on various issues affecting the education sector in the world. This deliberations will culminate in this papers being published in journals and will therefore be used as reference  to guide policies that will be used to improve content delivery in the education sector.
