Vice Chancellor address to the university community on Covid 19 third wave containment measures

The President of the Republic of Kenya, His  Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, in his 15th address delivered on March 26, 2021 to the Nation on Corona Virus Pandemic indeed confirmed that a third Wave of COVID 19 is at hand in Kenya. In order to  avert a national health crisis and also in keeping with the recommendations of the National Emergency Response Committee on COVID-19, he issued the Public Order No. 2 of 2021 on the Corona Virus Pandemic.

Webinar: Improving Literacy and Numeracy in kenya, using the learning toolkit software

The Department of Educational Communication and Technology will host an online webinar on Thursday, 4th March 2021, 2-3pm.Guest presenters are Enos Kiforo, Hub Reasearch coordinator and Rose Iminza, PD Coordinator at LTK+ African. The topic will be 'Improving Literacy and Numeracy in kenya, using the Learning Toolkit software'

First year students report to Campus for Blended Learning

The first year students Resumed for blended (online and Face to face) Learning for 2020/2021 Academic Year second semester in the College of Education and External Studies.This included the department of educational communication and technology Bed ECD( Early Childhood Education) first year students.The activities that were undertaken included:

  • Biometric registration
  • Physical verification and submission of registration documents and
  • Physical orientation of University facilities and amenities

3RD ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RESEARCH AND INNOVATION IN EDUCATION (AICRIE)

The third annual conference on research and innovation in education was held virtually on the 14th and 15th October 2020. The conference  was attended by stake holders and experts in the education sector from all over the world where members presented research papers on various issues affecting the education sector in the world. This deliberations will culminate in this papers being published in journals and will therefore be used as reference  to guide policies that will be used to improve content delivery in the education sector.

UON HOLDS VIRTUAL GRADUATION CEREMONY

The University of Nairobi  conducted a virtual graduation a first one since it's inception.The University, in the recent past successfully shifted all its research,teaching and learning to online platforms due to the challenges posed by Covid -19  pandemic. On September 25th , 2020 the University delivered the 63rd Graduation through virtual platform. The ceremony was held at  the Great Court. The chief guest Cabinet secretary for education Prof George Magoha graced the occasion. 

Preparations for online and distance learning to counter COVID 19 pardemic challenges

The department of eduactional communication and technology is currently finishing prepairing modules to be used for online and distance learning. The modules once prepaired, lecturers will be able to use them for online teaching and also using them for distance learning to counter the challeges posed by the COVID 19 perdemic. this is meant to  ensure that learning countinues uninterrupted and the students are able to proceed with their studies despite the challeges being faced nationally and internationally.
