Call for Applications of the 2016/2017 Deans' Committee Research Grant

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (RPE) has announced the ‘Call for Dean’s Committee Research Grant’ proposals for 2016.
The grant funds projects to a maximum of ksh.250,000/= per year for a maximum period of three (3) years. For more information, see the attached documents or visit the DVC (RPE) website.

Dr. Ngaruiya Boniface Njoroge Appointed

Dr. Ngaruiya Boniface Njoroge has been appointed the Associate Dean in charge of Education at Kenya Science Campus. Kenya Science is a campus of the College of Education and External Studies.
The Chairman, Department of Educational Communication and Technology Prof. Paul A. Odundo together with other staff from the department cogratulate Dr. Ngaruiya on his new appointment.

TURNITIN AND ORCID TRAINING

A section of the Deparment of Educational Communication and Technology academic staff today attended training on Turnitin and ORCID. The training was organised by the College of Education and External Studies, UoN Library and ICT Centre. In line with the University of Nairobi's Plagiarism policy, all academic staff will be required to use the Turnitin antiplagiarism software during supervision of postgraduate students to monitor levels of plagiarism in the student's and their own research works, a reason that necissitated the training. The staff will use the ORCID tool to connect to other researchers from other institution and funders. The rest of the academic staff will attend the training tomorrow, Friday, 12/6/2016.

The University of Nairobi emerged 6th in Africa and 697 in the world in the just released January Webometric Ranking.
University of Nairobi recorded a significance improvement in the parameters used, in presence UoN was ranked 4th in Africa and 279 worldwide, On Impact UoN emerged number 2nd in Africa and 547 in the world, in openness, the university is position 2 in Africa and 229 in the word and great improvement on excellence parameter emerging 25 in Africa and 1447 worldwide. Staff Attend Writer's Workshop
CCU - Main Campus
Teaching staff from the Department of Educational Communication and Technology led by the Chairman, Prof. Paul Odundo are currently attending a writers workshop at CCU, Main Campus. The workshop is organised by the Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CoDL). The staff are writing modules for various courses taught through the open and distance learning. The workshop will run form Monday, 2/11/2015 to Thursday, 5/11/2015.
