Training of trainers for Mega Faculty Hackathons

Training of Trainers for the Mega Faculty Hackathons was conducted on 26-28 Feb 2024 at Wangare Maathai Inistitute. Training was organised by the office of the DVC (RIE) and that of the Director (Innovations and Intellectual Property).The department of educational Communication and technology was well represented by Dr. Kyalo Mulwa a member of our academic staff. This was in preparations for the Faculty of Education Hackathons which is a build up to  the Nairobi innovation week which will be held  in May this year

Digital Transformation Programme: Teaching with Technology Seminar

The Department of Educational communication,Technology and Pedagogical Studies organised a teaching with technology seminar to upgrade the Faculty members soft skills in use of various digital tools in developing content for teaching. This according to the Chairman of the department Dr.Boniface Ngaruiya constitute a series of seminars of Digital Transformation Programme seminars that the Department intends to undertake to ensure all members are able to use digital tools that are available  in teaching and developing online content. The 13th biennial Pan-African Literacy For All (PALFA) Conference

The 13th biennial Pan-African Literacy For All (PALFA) Conference  with the Theme: Remediating the Global Learning Poverty Crisis through Innovative Literacy Practices was held on 23rd to 25th of August 2023 hosted by the department of Educational communication Technology and Pedagogical Studies at the Manu Chandaria Hall at the University towers.

Honouring a Long serving Academic Staff Member Dr. Teresia Kazungu

Dr Teresia W. Kazungu a long serving academic staff member with 30 years of exemplary service as a Kiswahili Educator in the  Department retired this year. She's credited for training over 2500  kiswahili teachers. She will be remembered for her demand for quality and order in teaching Kiswahili and in the teaching Profession in general. The department celebrates her exemplary service to the Kenyan school community. Members of the Academic staff paid her a courtesy call as she settles down to this new phase of her life.

UoN-Linköping University exchange program

The Department of Educational Communication ,Technology and Pedagogical Studies hosted a Lecturer from Linköping University Dr. Linda Lattik, from the Department of Behavioural Sciences and Learning (IBL), Linköping University in an ongoing exchange program between the two universities. She taught third year students in the department in the course unit  Teaching methods in art and craft currently being taught by Dr Gladys Kinyua.
